Dangan Group is recruiting an experienced HGV Driver Trainer to deliver high-quality training and assessments across Cork, Dublin, and satellite sites throughout Ireland. This full-time, permanent role supports a safety-first culture by upskilling drivers in compliance, efficiency, and safe operations.
The opportunity The HGV Driver Trainer will conduct new driver assessments, structured training programs, annual refreshers, remedial sessions, eco-driving coaching, and on-site safety observations to enhance fleet performance and fuel efficiency. Ideal for a qualified trainer passionate about driver development in a dynamic logistics environment.
Key responsibilities
Perform driving assessments for new applicants and deliver classroom modules on compliance, ADR awareness, plus practical handling training.
Lead annual refresher training covering legislation, SHEQ updates, incident prevention, and physical driving evaluations.
Administer remedial training for underperforming drivers and develop one-to-one performance improvement plans using telematics data.
Promote eco-driving techniques to cut emissions and fuel use through coaching and behaviour analysis.
Conduct regular on-site observations for PPE compliance, site safety, loading practices, and depot-based assessments, reporting non-conformances.
Skills and experience
Valid HGV qualifications with proven training/assessment experience in driver development.
Strong knowledge of eco-driving, telematics analysis, SHEQ standards, and compliance training (e.g., ADR).
Excellent communication skills for classroom delivery, one-to-one coaching, and site observations.
Ability to travel nationwide and work flexibly across sites.
