Job Description

Our client is a leading nationwide food surplus collection company in Ireland, providing reliable collection and transport services to customers across the country. The organisation is committed to recovering 100% of the food it collects for the biogas industry and was one of the first companies to operate CNG vehicles within its fleet.

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Transport Coordinator to join their team.
Working closely with the Transport Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating scheduled and manifested collections, deliveries and transport routes, as well as preparing monthly reports for the Accounts team.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational, problem-solving and communication skills, along with a strong work ethic and the ability to remain focused and effective in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and plan transport routes for specific customer groups and/or geographical areas, ensuring all customer collections are completed within agreed timeframes.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers, customers and internal departments to ensure all transport requirements are coordinated and finalised efficiently.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including customer record management and the preparation and maintenance of transport documentation.
  • Provide a consistently high standard of customer service in line with organisational values.
  • Identify and highlight potential areas for improvement to management.
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies to optimise fleet and transport operations.
  • Support the Transport Manager with day-to-day transport planning and coordination as required.
  • Prepare accurate monthly reports for the Accounts team.
The Ideal Candidate
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a transport coordination or similar role.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant transportation regulations.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer literacy and experience using relevant transport, logistics or administrative software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • A team player with a flexible, positive and professional attitude.
  • Ability to use initiative, prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure.
  • A qualification in Logistics, Transport Management (e.g. CPC) or a relevant discipline would be an advantage.
